In a bit of magical realism, Paul is able to accurately predict the winner of any horse race so long as he rides his own wooden rocking-horse while searching for the answer. But no matter how much that Paul earned through gambling, it was never enough. As the Derby drew near, â€Å"the boy grew more and more tense. He hardly heard what was spoken to him, he was very frail, and his eyes were really uncanny† (Lawrence 306). In the end, Paul made over 70,000 pounds on that race alone, but the stress of his divination costs him his life (Lawrence 308). Because Paul believed that more and more money was necessary for his family to survive, he continued to push himself harder and harder to win more and more. The stress of this path, however, was ultimately self-destructive and cost Paul his life. No matter how hard he tried to control the material wealth of the family, his und erlying belief that there must always be more money would destroy his very life for the sum of more than 70,000 pounds. In both Greene’s â€Å"The Destructors† and Lawrence’s â€Å"The Rocking-Horse Winner† we see a pervasive, and perverse, need to control the material world in both the characters of T. and Paul. For over 300 years, various ethnic, cultural, and social groups have come to this country to seek economic opportunity, reunite with family members, and find a place where they can be free from political and religious persecution. I suspect a majority of American-born citizens believe that immigration is a bad thing in this country that is harmful. Those particular Americans believe that this country is being infested by foreigners who cannot even speak our own language. However, if one were to look at the truth behind these fallacies, he/she would see that immigration is beneficial to our country and should not be abandoned. Instead, it should be increased. Many people who disapprove of immigration base their opinions on arguments that are purely fictitious. However, the only competition with immigrants is the skilled immigrants versus the skilled natives, and the unskilled immigrants versus the unskilled natives. Therefore, the person with the most skills deserves the job. If that person is an immigrant, then so be it. Answers: Introduction: Studying is concerned with much more than the knowledge regarding the subject and that is the reason the skills are developed during the learning stage. Defining few of the constructs included in the scope has been significantly more challenging than traditional constructs. The importance of subject specified skills have been known and learned during this study and the same have been explained through this report. The main skills that had endeavoured my skills have been explained in the report. Their effect on my learning and future impact on working or studies had been also explained. The obstacles that were part of my learning are also part of the report. The manner in which my thinking and working style has been reformed after the studies has also been included in the report. Effect Of The Two Main Concepts Learned During W101 On Thinking Cognitive Skills It can be said as intellectual skills which are concerned with the identification, description, application and description. Analysis and synthesis of study are also included in it. These skills are the major skills of our brain that are used by it for thinking, learning, reasoning and remembering (Bondi and et.al., 2016). These skills enable one to construe, explain and apply legal principals and authorities in a coherent manner. It assists one in identifying the factors of legal argument and analysing the interpretations. It can also be said as reflective thinking which is focused on ascertaining what to believe or do. According to Braye and Preston-Shoot, 2016 the one who has inbuilt the enhanced cognitive skills in itself can interpret the law appropriately on a word to word basis and can ascertain the correct governing rule relating to it. It plays an important role in processing new information. The probability of desirable result is increased with cognitive skills rather than outcomes of non-critical thinkers (Cooper, 2016). Due to this reason it had not only directly influenced my thinking but also changed the manner of taking a decision. The result that I observed after changing the method of decision taking was surprising and positive. As previously I take a decision without critical analysis but now I take a decision after analysing the factor relevant to circumstances; the outcomes which come are pretended or desirable most of the time. In the case of subject law, these skills play a major role as if one is having enhanced cognitive skills one can easily interpret the rules and regulation in the form they are present. I recognised its importance at learning stage of this study. The result after learning this skill on my work was the reason that it directly affected my thinking. The estimations regarding a case law were appropriately taken now and not without any base, the manner which was followed by me previously. The regular practice of professional and practical skills not only develops other skills but also improve the ability to take the correct decision. Developing cognitive skills in myself not only improved my ability to understand the laws and regulations but also enhanced my writing skills. These skills assisted me in presenting assessments in an appropriate manner which is used by me during my studies in solving case laws. It has changed the manner of my working too, which will help me in my future employment. I am able to critically analyse the case and to abstract the important data from it and to ascertain the law under which it will be governed. I am practising it in my current projects to improve these skills in a better way so that I could gain more advantage from it in my future. The role of the legal profession in the legal system was analysed by me during this study while developing practical and professional skills. The skills that should be present in student of law or a new lawyer (Key skills for successful legal professionals, 2016) ; which I learned during the study are: Identification of ethical issues in practice and resolving them. To learn about the circumstances in which ethical concerns regarding compliance of trust with accounting obligation should arise. Acknowledging and meeting legal duties relating to connection with dealing in others property. Appropriate measures should be taken to avoid a rise of conflict in future. Presenting professional behaviour in all the dealings with clients as well as authorities. The lesson of professionalism was learned by me during the study which is not only improving my image now but will also help in creating goodwill in future. The importance of pro bono contributions to legal practice was observed by me and even I learned the method of using it. Cultural differences can influence many aspects of a persons life and how they view such things as their mental well-being. For example, this may vastly differ from one culture to another, with some viewing mental illness as a blessing rather than a curse. The culture of a person influences many aspects of mental illness. Cultural meanings of illness have real consequences in terms of whether people are motivated to seek treatment, how they cope with their symptoms, how supportive their families and communities are, where they seek help; mental health specialist and/or traditional healer, the pathways they take to get services, and how they fare in treatment. Within a rural community context, many features of family life have a bearing on ones mental health. For example, a supportive family and good sibling relationships can protect against the onset of mental illness, while a family environment marked by severe marital discord or social disadvantage can contribute to its onset. The consequence can be grave when people with severe mental illness do not receive appropriate treatment. In order for me to be culturally responsive in a rural area it is essential that I acknowledge and respect cultural differences and learn how to work through conflicts and misunderstandings based on these differences. With my Masters Degree in Social Work I would be able to assist patients with their mental health and chemical dependency issues through the emergency room as well. I understand school and medical social workers have a wide range of responsibilities and to be successful I would utilize my time-management and organizationa l skills to effectively perform all of my duties. With my current job in the field of child protection and childrens mental health I feel I am adequately prepared to manage crisis situations that arise. Additionally, wherever I obtain employment. I will become familiar with the social service agencies in the community to ensure that children and their families are connected to the appropriate services if there are concerns of child neglect or abuse.
